Kitty,
I'm a Tulsa based author and self publisher. Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Check out my web site and a new Facebook page I posted at Okie Indie Authors. We will have a corresponding web site up soon.

In 2012 I am starting a nonprofit called www.oklahomaread.com. The purpose of the organization will be purchasing books by Oklahoma authors, from Oklahoma authors (or their publishers) and donating them to libraries across the state.

Please call on me any time I can assist you.

I once saw a TV documentary featuring an American Indian loaf cake being made from wild rice, some eggs, and perhaps some nuts too, but couldn't follow the show to take notes. If you have this recipe, would you kindly share it? My husband and I are int'l food lovers; I'd love to try baking this at home.

Many thanks!

Tuesday Afternoon, 3 August 2010

Note to all readers: In my posting above made earlier today, I typed "darned", spelled d-a-r-n-e-d. On my screen, however, it looks like the word was spelled differently. Didn't want Kitty or other readers to think that I was cussing. [smile]

Annie, you just won the Nancy Pearl book! I'll send it on to Cindy Stevens at Pioneer. Tell her it's coming through the Trans-Amigos courier and thanks for coming to the Reading Oklahoma blog.

Well, of course I know who Nancy Pearl is! She is a wonderful former-librarian -- now celebrity who has her own action figure and is interviewed by PBS and other venues, who tells us all about what is good to read! Since I already own my own copy, if I win this one, please send it to Cindy Stevens at Pioneer Library System and she'll see that it goes to one of Pioneer's branches. All my best, Annie Joy
